Inspiration

My work reflects my journey—shaped by places I’ve been, patterns I’ve observed, and an evolving process of discovery. I simplify organic forms found in nature—leaves, rippling water, shifting landscapes—capturing their quiet beauty in ceramics. Birds, with their delicate silhouettes and movement, often appear in my work, symbolizing freedom, fragility, and connection. Being outdoors grounds and inspires me, revealing overlooked details—the curve of a feather, the texture of a stone—which I translate into ceramics that offer a fresh perspective on nature’s quiet wonders.

Each tile is meticulously hand-rolled in small batches, ensuring every piece has a unique character. I work primarily with white porcelain for its strength, delicacy, and fine texture, enhancing surfaces with stains, clear glazes, and glass frit to add depth and subtle variations. The process is slow and intentional—months of refining, trusting that the kiln will transform raw materials into something beautiful.

Beyond tiles, I have always been drawn to jewellery making, fascinated by delicate, intricate forms. Moving to Nottingham introduced me to the city’s lace heritage, inspiring me to incorporate lace printing into my ceramics—a way to honour tradition while shaping something uniquely my own.

Originally a multimedia design student, I have always embraced new technologies alongside traditional craftsmanship, blending hand-drawn sketches with digital techniques. By day, I’m a full-time teacher, and I love that my creative practice allows me to explore photography, painting, printmaking, and sculpture. But ceramics remains my passion—a labour of love that has held my heart for over a decade. Through my work, I hope to share a sense of wonder, craftsmanship, and connection to the world around us.
